Becker’s Spine Review, the leading source of spine care information and news, recently came out with a list of the 20 Spine Surgeons Focused on Ethics. The list named Dr. Richard Wohns, JD, MBA, and president and founder of Microsurgical Spine Center and NeoSpine.

“Dr. Wohns is a neurosurgeon with a special interest in spine surgery including minimally invasive spinal procedures, complex spinal surgery and lumbar disc arthroplasty,” said the listing. “He has served on the Ethics Committee of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and is past president of the Washington State Association of Neurological Surgeons.”

Dr. Wohns was one of the first surgeons in the United States to perform the external lateral interbody fusion technique, and he was the first in the Northwest to perform a two-level cervical artificial disc replacement. Dr. Wohns also does volunteer mission trips. He traveled to Katmandu, Nepal and spent over two weeks at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, educating physicians on the latest neurosurgical and spinal surgery techniques. He brings donated medical equipment and supplies, and performs surgery.
