Dr. Richard Wohns, the founder and president of NeoSpine and Microsurgical Spine Center, is a leader in spinal surgery. He is committed to innovations in the field, and for that reason he started the Mazama Spine Summit, a think tank for leaders in outpatient spine surgery. Now in its 10th year, the Mazama Spine Summit is an annual conference held in February in Washington. This year’s summit is February 7-9, at Sun Mountain Lodge in Winthrop, WA.
The Mazama Spine Summit includes technique innovators and top spine surgeons from around the country. There are lectures, panel discussions, and the opportunity network and learn. The Summit is open to members of the medical community including physicians, chiropractors, physical therapists, medical device representatives, residents, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician’s assistants and fellows.
This year’s keynote speaker is Merwyn Bagan, MD, MPH. He was chairman of the Foundation for International Education in Neurological Surgery. Dr. Bagan is a well-respected neurosurgeon. He lived in Nepal from 1995 to 2000 volunteering at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, establishing a neurosurgery department and spinal ward, and training surgeons. This is the same hospital where Dr. Wohns volunteers.
